Back on the Blog

Hi!

I know it's been Forever since I got on this blog and wrote about the news in our family. Life....what can I say.

Since my dearest friend Mary now lives on the other side of the world, Singapore. I figure that she should relish my blog entries more than anyone...and she's the reason I'm going to get back into it. It just doesn't seem fair to her for me to read her "bloggy" news while getting nothing in return! So....I apologize in advance if some of these entries are on the boring side....it's an update nonetheless!

Yesterday was library/roller skating day. Greg took Rachel to her second visit to the roller rink while I spent quality time with David at the library. Everyone had a great time and I relished the opportunity to do something with David at his level and his pace. So many times we've been to the library and Rachel picks the books, and runs the show, so to speak. David and I did puzzle after puzzle and read The Digger Man book 8 times (no exaggeration!). Fun! One book we read talked about cider....so the library trip was followed by a grocery store stop to buy cider. What fun!

Yesterday afternoon I snuck away to the pottery painting place in town that I just love. I re-painted my Santa cookie plate for the kids (since the one I made in December had been scratched up). I can't express how much I love painting pottery. So relaxing and creative.

Tis the season for crock pots. I've stocked up the kitchen with ingredients to live out of the crock pot this week. I've FINALLY gotten smart and stopped filling the darn thing to the top and leaving leftovers in the frig for days. I've found that the kids are rarely interested in eating the same meal twice (only exceptions being McDonald's, cereal, mashed potatoes and PB& J sandwiches). I'm halving the recipes and it's working out perfect. Amen to less tupperware to wash!

Today is the playoffs for the Superbowl, so Greg is content to stay home and relax in front of the TV. David has really started to take an interest in watching it too. I've decided to put Rachel in the car and go up to the Frist Museum of Art. I place I've wanted to take her all year. It's one of those "things to do before kindergarten".

We have had some very cold days around here (nighttime lows in single digits & daytime highs in the 20's) with no snow. So, I thought I'd posted a picture to reminisce about the first winter Rachel was born. I think she was less than 1 month old in this picture and we had her outside for all of 3 minutes. I'm sure the temp was in the 30's, but with Texas blood, that felt bitterly cold.
