Livin' it up at Lake Ouachita

Our annual trip to Lake Ouachita Arkansas is now a memory for 2009- an awesome one. This long weekend event is a Waller tradition, dating back to when Greg's Dad and his siblings went as young adults with young kids. Greg's Dad got the trip re-ignited in 2001, the summer after Greg & I got married. Since Lori (Greg's sis) is in her 3rd trimester expecting her 3rd baby, they were not able to be with us this year. It was just our immediate family with Granny & Granddad and we missed them a lot. To be expected, Rachel & David soaked up every second and even slumber-partied every night in Granny & Granddad's cabin. The weather cooperated perfectly. We had a blast; spending almost all day everyday on the boat. We ate lunch on the boat 2 of the 3 days! All of us got up on skis and Rachel loved the tube. She got very excited when they went outside the wake and over the waves. She even took a couple trips by herself but at a much slower speed!David did the tube only when we weren't going anywhere. He "floated" in it when we jumped out to swim behind the boat. David is Granddad's big buddy; everything Granddad does is way cool.
The kids were very impressed that Granny & Granddad can water ski. Proof that 3-4 days of exercise at the Y each week can keep us young & strong!
When we weren't on the lake, Rachel spent time in the swimming pool while David took a short nap. David threw about 9,458 rocks into the lake from shore when he was awake. And I think he brought home about 40. We had bird feeder painting activity, water guns, and rocket balloons to entertain us. Granddad was the grill master. Yum.

The lake level was very high due to a very rainy spring. In fact, we were originally planning to camp in a tent, but the park service cancelled our reservation & closed the camping area due to high water. We usually can drive the boat under this bridge.

Life is good. Can't wait for 2010.
