Today was his second day. David wore his backpack to the corner to walk Rachel to the bus stop. We had about 25 minutes before we had to leave for preschool, but David was ready. Very ready. He didn't want to go back inside the house. He politely asked me to open the garage. He climbed into the car and waited for 20 minutes to pass. No complaints, no whining, no begging. Once, he came into the kitchen and asked if it was time to leave. When I told him "No, we still have about 10 minutes." He responded, "Ok, Mommy. I am trying to be patient and wait and wait some more." I heard him talking to himself as he turned to go back into the car saying "It's so hard to wait but I can do it. It's gonna be fun at preschool today."
Once we got to school, I was helping him get settled and he looked and me and said very matter of factly, "Mommy, you can go now." Now of all days I've sent my children off to school in the last 2 weeks, that made me cry.
This afternoon he's been repeatedly singing:
My God is a great big God. A mighty God. A strong God. There is nothing my God can't do.
What makes it even more precious is that each time he acts out the motions, too. He's just so in love with the words and actions. Jump on Big God; Act like Superman on Mighty God; Show your muscles on Strong God. Wave hands back and forth for Nothing my God can't do. Then clap, clap.
