Visit from Grandma & Grandpa

We had a great visit with my parents in late March. They were with us for 4 days during the week which made for a unique visit. Rachel was in school and David had preschool 2 of the days, so I got to spend some kid-free time with my parents. We took a tour of Carton Plantation, did a good amount of antique shopping, and ate lunch, casually and child-free at a local hotspot. Such fun!

Grandma & Grandpa went to school to have lunch with Rachel and also see her roller skating during PE time. One afternoon after school, Rachel and Grandma went out for pedicures "at the salon that has chairs with rollers that go up and down your back" (according to Rachel).
The last evening they were here, we had a special dinner to learn about Grandma & Grandpa's childhood. I served their favorite foods and decorated the table with red and green (favorite colors) and items to represent their favorite childhood activities....tennis, softball, playing cards, wearing a poodle skirt.

Mom & Dad brought a lot of pictures to share with the kids. Rachel was curious and interested, David not quite so much. I think he may have been too anxious to eat PB&J and grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner.
My dad went to St. Olaf College on a tennis scholarship. One of the first photos Rachel saw was him in his tennis clothes holding his racket. Rachel said, "Grandpa you look better old." We all got a good laugh about that. It didn't seem quite fair because Rachel gave Grandpa's pictures lots of "ohs, and ahs." "Grandma was such a cute girl." Rachel even wanted to keep one of the pictures of my mom on her tricycle to put in her bedroom!
As usual, the time went by so quickly. We all had a good time together and are so thankful they drove down to visit. We miss Grandma & Grandpa everyday.
