Realizing that it's been well over a week since my last blog, I thought I should make an update. It seems that most of my life these past few days have been made up of the little things that keep a family going...
The washing machine broke. After the repairman said it was a $300 repair, we decided to just replace the 8 yr old machine. I have now found out how to re-spark any interest/satisfaction in doing laundry. Buy a new machine. It's amazing how well it works.
Also, Greg replaced the outdoor porch lights after we found out that it was not just burnt out lightbulbs. This whole saga proved to be a two-day electrical challenge. Let's just say that smoke was involved but the house is still standing. I share this with great pride & love for my personal handyman!
Next, we had a "precious child" moment at church. Rachel & David went to the front for the children's message, just like any other Sunday. The teacher said she had a few things to show the kids that she had been using around her house recently. The first thing she pulled out of her bag was a medicine syringe (I think the message was about God helping the sick). Children started calling out answers to what it was and how it was used. The sweet speaker moved the microphone around trying to capture each child's voice for the congregation to hear. Then, she put the mic in front of David and asked "Would you like to say that again?" Of course, he clammed up. So the speaker repeated David's words for all to hear. "He said 'When you say naughty words Mommy puts vinegar in your mouth.'"
Rachel had a fun Valentine's day at preschool On Friday.
On Saturday morning we delivered valentines around to neighborhood friends. We were all truly in the spirit...until...
Sadly, my other news is Rachel's ear infection. Happy Valentine's didn't stay so happy for her. It quickly became a rough day. Suddenly, she was in tears it hurt so much. I called & got her into the pediatrician just before closing. Motrin saved the day and now the antibiotic has kicked in.
Lastly, I need to say Happy Birthday to my little brother! he turns 34 today!
