Even though I'm a few weeks behind, I'm just as happy to give you a glimpse of our Easter celebration. Here's Rachel & David dressed for church. The Easter Bunny brought Rachel a "Hannah Montana" scarf that she just had to wear with her dress. Happy kids, great morning. (Note: David has fashion opinions. E.g., he insisted on not tucking in his dress shirt so you can see it under his vest sweater and rolling up the sleeves. Where does he learn this stuff?)
For Easter lunch we had our adopted family over - the Skube's, Berndt's, and Rupert's. Arianne prepared her famous ham, and everyone provided sides. There was a lot of very good food! The kids had an egg hunt and the adults played several rounds of cornhole (cornbag toss game). The kids enjoyed the balance beam that Grandpa just built for them and the backyard was filled with laughter and fun all afternoon. Here's the dads in action.
Here's Jenny, Tommy & Lindy Skube. (If you've talked with David about anything in the last 5 months, you've heard about Tommy, his best buddy.) Lindy and Rachel head to kindergarten together in the fall. Apparently Deuce is checking Tommy's feet for dropped candy in this picture!
Arianne, Noah & Erika. Arianne & I have noticed that Noah & Rachel seem to have a "crush" on each other. They both talk about one another and we've caught them holding hands.
It was so fun to watch each of the children during the egg hunt. The bunnies hid over 120 eggs so the hunt lasted for quite a while. Some, like David, were in a feverish search to get as many eggs as possible. Fairly quickly, his basket had so many eggs they would topple out as he ran to get another he'd spot across the yard. In comparison, sweet Cheyenne gathered about 7 eggs and then immediately dumped out her basket in the middle of the yard and sat down to open them. The obvious goal for her was seeing the surprises inside each egg.
Here's a couple more pics that I can't resist sharing..... Eli on the monkey bars on a mission to get an egg.
David and Tommy: I can hear the giggles in my mind!
For me, one of the most memorable moments of the day was when ALL of the kids were playing and ALL of the adults were able to sit around the dining room table and eat together. I really wish I had taken a picture of that! Cheers to great friends! Happy Easter!
