Excited to be a Wildcat!

Last night Rachel's school had an ice cream social to start the school year. Can you believe our little girl is big enough to be a kindergartner?!?

Greg took her to the social and said the tears started for Rachel as they got out of the car and approached the building. She pulled herself together fairly quickly and then enjoyed the entire time. Of course the parking lot was packed, the school was packed with kids, parents, siblings, and teachers. I could imagine that it was a little overwhelming but once inside, Rachel was a happy girl.

The evening included having ice cream in the cafeteria, getting a wildcat paw tattoo in the gym, and having a picture taken with Winston the Wildcat. They completed the visit with a tour the kindergarten hall of 6 classrooms, computer, art & music rooms. Greg said they saw many familiar faces. They came home with a purple & gold school t-shirt and magnet for Mommy's car from the spirit store.

On Friday I take Rachel back up to school for a 30 minute assessment/screening. Next week, we'll find out which teacher she has.

Today, my job is to keep the washing machine humming. I'm just now recovering from our trip to Minnesota (I promise to write about that soon!) and the luggage is getting back into the walk-in attic. Among all the vacation clothes, I'm washing piles of new school clothes for Rachel. With Minnesota having no tax on clothing, we did her kindergarten wardrobe shopping with Grandma. Reality is hitting me in the face from all directions that Rachel is a kindergartner!
